Support / How to setup Transfer Pak emulation
« on: March 10, 2018, 06:22:37 PM »
Mupen64plus FZ has added support for the transfer Pak. This is useful for games like Pokemon stadium and Pokemon stadium 2. Here is how to set it up.

What you will need
  • N64 ROM image that supports the transfer Pak
  • Gameboy or Gameboy color ROM image that the N64 game supports
  • File containing the in-game save for the GB/GBC ROM image, usually it has a .sav extension

  • Start up the Mupen64plus FZ app
  • Use the top right button called "REFRESH ROMS" to search for your N64 game, after the app finds your N64 ROM, it will show up in your library.
  • Select the ROM that showed up in your library and select settings
  • Select "Controller"
  • Scroll down to "controller paks" and for each player that you need the transfer Pak for, choose the transfer pak
  • Once the transfer Pak had been selected for the appropriate players, scroll down to the "transfer paks" section
  • For each player that you enabled the transfer Pak for, you will have to select a ROM and RAM image
  • For the ROM image select your GB or GBC ROM
  • For the RAM image select your GB/GBC in game save, usually it has a sav extension
  • Back out of all the menus and get back to the library
  • Select your N64 ROM and choose restart

Unfortunately Apple still doesn't allow emulators in their app store.

I added 7zip support, next release will have it. I'm also considering RAR support as well.

RAR is a no go. There are no java libraries that support the latest RAR5 compression format.

It could potentially be done with a cheat code. Unfortunately, it's not easy to find up with cheat codes, it would have to be something you find yourself.

Hey. Yeah, the app only supports zip format files. I have thought about including support for 7zip, but that meant bringing in additional libraries that I didn't want to bring because of bloat.

I will consider adding support for 7zip again. It wouldn't be that hard to do.

Interesting, that doesn't match anything in the database, I'll add it.

This is the last version that had compatibility with your device (3.0.121):

For step #4, it means to select each N64 button listed by pushing the Shield Controller "A" button. You will be prompted to enter a Shield Controller button to act as that N64 button.

If you map the wrong button, you can clear the current mapping by holding down the A button.

You can invert axis by select the opposite shield controller axis when asked to map a N64 axis.

Have you tried switching emulation profiles? Your phone is fast enough to run GLideN64 medium.

It's possible that the game location changed. Can you try rescanning your library?

You are in the right place. Could you elaborate about where it's crashing?

To map a controller not listed:
  • Open up the side bar, go to profiles then controller.
  • In there use the top right button to create a new mapping.
  • Give it a name and hit ok.
  • Map your buttons in that screen
  • Go back to the main screen and open the sidebar again.
  • Go to Profiles then Select Profiles
  • Select the profile you created for "controller 1 profile"

Can you provide the CRC, md5, good name, and region of both games? I can add then to the database.

There are a few things you can try to improve performance on the FZ version.
Go to settings, then audio, turn off synchronize audio and video.
Go to settings, then input, turn on high priority mode.
Go to profiles, then emulation profiles, try different ones. glN64 can be good on low end devices at the cost of accuracy.
Go to settings, then display, try lowering resolution
