I tested the latest release on my Galaxy Ace and also gave a speed of less than 10 fps, even turning off the sound, which in my opinion made no difference in speed.

The frameskip, if I put more than 2, the game gets a white screen and not come out.

But the emulator is getting very good,  for me opening the Mario 64, is already great.

Congratulations for the great work!

[Additionally, I haven't been able to figure out why disabling the audio plug-in doesn't work.  I can verify that the GUI removes the path from the config file (I've also manually removed it just to be doubly sure).  It is definitely still gone from the config file when Mupen64Plus starts up.

I know its not a good idea to use hacky work arounds but is it possible to move the audio plugin to a temporary folder when the user chooses to disable the audio plugin? That way the emulator couldn't use it at all.

If I remember correctly the plugin is stored somewhere which required root to access though. :/

EDIT: there definitely something wrong with the audio settings. Even when I change the plugin to something ridiculous like a video plugin it still plays audio.

I also selected another plugin in audio, but seems to have no change. In the video, yes, I changed to another plugin and the emulation slowed.

Also, for those who have small screens, please refresh your app-data folder and let me know how the larger font looks when the FPS indicator is on.

If you want, I think can decrease a little.

Hi Paul,

I see that your emulator is getting very good, congratulations for the work!

I tested now in my Galaxy Ace with Gingerbread 2.3.4, and is running reasonably, I wanted to disable the audio to see if the game speed increases, but this makes me more anxious to see the stable version.

I found a strange thing, at the beginning of the Zelda, when he goes out of his house that shows a top view, the house appears green without the textures of the wood of the house.

And one suggestion I wanted to give, if you can increase the size of the display of the FPS of the gamepad small, because here in my Galaxy Ace i can't see the number of frames right.

Congratulations again at work!

sorry to double post but i decided i wanted to ask a question. I have the stock android 2.3.3 rom (root) and i experience minor lag on mario 64 but more on other games. I noticed that paul or someone said to make sure we had the latest rom for our device (2.3.4 for me) and i was wondering if anyone who also has the galaxy ace could tell me if they have less lag after upgrading and anything else you did to increase speed. I plan on overclocking after a custom rom is released for the galaxy ace. I think villainrom is in version 1.0 for the ace.. i'd rather wait for it to have some more bugs ironed out.

My Galaxy Ace is with the original rom 2.3.4 without root, and the Mario 64 runs fine, but the sound has a little lag.

I tested other games as: Mario Party 2, The Legend of Zelda and Mario Tennis, but has much lag because of the sound.

how to disable the audio?
The only way at the moment is if you have root access, to delete the file /data/data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus/lib/libaudio-sdl.so.  In theory, it should also be possible to remove the reference to libaudio-sdl.so in the file [sdcard]/app-data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus/mupen64plus.cfg (but there seems to be a problem with this at the moment).

For those who do not have root access, you could please post a version of the emulator without the audio plugin to gain more speed on the emulation?

I was using the release of date 25/10 on my Galaxy Ace, and keyboard appeared normal, now I installed the latest version (5/11) and the keyboard no longer appears. How do I appear?
Oftentimes problems can be solved by deleting the folder [sdcard]/app-data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus/ and letting the app re-download it (there may have been changes between those versions, I don't recall off hand).

I had done that before and it worked, but thanks!

i have looked through the input config file and cannot find any mention of an option to change the size of the game pad. I also cannot figure out how to disable sound. deleting or changing the name of the sound plugin doesn't help. On the Galaxy Ace there is no search key, and so if this opens more options i and the rest of us with full touch phones are probably stuck.. anyone who knows where the option in the config files is that'd be awesome.

Paul has posted instructions here a few times on how to disable the audio plugin but ever since the forum has been upgraded lots of the old mupen threads are gone so the instructions are not here anymore.

Also I might have found a way to shrink the touch pads manually for you! got to sdcard/app-data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus/skins/gamepads/ and open a file called gamepad_list.ini

In that file there is a list of all the different gamepad layouts, move the one you want to use to the top of the list.

EDIT: the one you probably want to use is the one called mupen64plus-ae-touch-small

That's right. For the Galaxy Ace the best gamepad is the Mupen64Plus-AE-Analog-Small.

one thing that i really think is needed is an obvious way to change the size of the onscreen buttons. For my phone, (Screenshot below) the buttons are way too big, mostly the analogue.
A question:
What are these posts meaning by keyboard? do you mean the software qwerty keyboard or the virtual gamepad?

If your phone has a search key then you can press that to change the pad layout to a smaller one. If not im sure theres a way in one of the config files.

Where in the configuration file?

Resume App Test #4

Use this build(page 12) work fine in my galaxy ace and have the keyboard

Thanks! I had not seen this release.

I had to delete the app-data folder and send it again to display the virtual keyboard.

Mario64 runs ok, but sound so laggy. Why?
This is because the framerate is too low, due to your slow ARM6 device.  Overclocking might help improve this, otherwise you will have to disable the audio.

I installed on my Galaxy Ace and the same thing happens, how to disable the audio?
