General Discussion / Re: Coming to Android TV / Nexus Player?
« on: November 20, 2014, 01:27:01 PM »
Thanks, but I'll wait it out. I barely have enough time to game, let alone tinker with all that.

To be sure, I would be happy to pay for this app if it becomes available on Android TV.

Not so simple, methinks.

"...sideloading apps on the Nexus Player is a chore compared to doing the same on a smartphone. Without a full web browser or built-in file sharing features, there really is no easy way to download apps from third-party sources directly to the device. You will need to use the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to push apps from a USB-connected PC (a process that requires some intermediate knowledge of working with the Android platform at the system level)."

Sorry, I do not have one, am actually waiting until Mupen64 / epsxe / Snes emus hit the market first.

Thanks for the replies guys.

To be clear, Android TV is a different / reboot of the failed Google TV initiative. Not sure how that affects what you've been looking at / plans - but it is a full Android OS, just with an app review process. Consider Android TV to be the official Android software for what will likely be a series of Ouya-like devices. However they will all use Android TV's official app store. So getting this app onto one of the Android TV devices will be getting it onto all of them (more will be coming out 2015 by different manufacturers).

A bit more info:

Google just announced the Nexus Player - a stock Android set-top box (also selling gamepads for it). This little machine would be perfect for N64 emulation. However, it is not automatically included in the official Android TV app store, until it is optimized

I feel like this is what we've been waiting for in terms of an early gen emulator machine, Paul or littleguy - have you guys looked into putting Mupen into the Android TV store? Would definitely love to see this & would be more than happy to pay for a the app.

Google has just added Drive save functionality. With this we should even be able to upload our own save files and manage them in Google Drive! It would be awesome if Mupen64 AE could support this =)

I hope these terms get changed soon or a work around emerges :/

A cloud save synch feature was released today, it would be great to play on an Ouya at my TV, then continue in bed on my Nexus7. N64 games are much more involved than many Android games, so saves are something worth keeping forever. It would be great it Mupen64 supported this new feature!

...who gives his target a choice of Red Cape or Blue Cape (or choose not to play).  The twist with this particular version of the legend is that instead of strangling the target if they choose Blue Cape, instead the Caped Soul possesses them.

I have to admit you have completely lost me here. The protagonist gives his enemy a cape then fights him? I have to admit this mechanic is confusing and might be simplified.

make the game about a magical rabbit! that would be badass. I don't have a video game background but a film background and would be willing to help out with character development and story.

I think its fair to say most players would be more than happy to buy the app, especially if that speeds up development and updates (not that you guys haven't been doing a fantastic job, you certainly have been doing inspiring work at a solid pace), but faster is always better of course. So my 2 is to do whatever is best for the project in this regard.

Thanks littleguy! I'm looking forward to seeing these features roll out. I see you guys have a nice to do list, adding important features and whatnot, so thanks for the great work :)

btw Paul, I think it's likely you could (in fairness) charge more than 1$ for the app especially if it speeds up features, many users would be willing to pay 5$ if that helps ensure the awesome job your team is doing will continue their great work. thanks!
