General Discussion / Re: Global Widescreen Support?
« on: December 11, 2013, 05:35:36 PM »
Games that don't support 16:9 will stretch on the real console too, but as littleguy said, there are modified plugins to do that. I think there's some cheat to edit the fov or something so you can widescreen games without changing plugins.

General Discussion / Re: smash bros savestate/save file request

No need to use a save on M64+AE, you can use the cheats to unlock everything, then do a savestate of the main menu (so no need to waste time configuring cheats again) and this will save you time.

On Xperia U depends what game, the emu crashes or not in scenario 3
SM64: Scenario 3 works all fine, game continues where I left it
SSB: Scenario 3 crashes, some milliseconds before I see the controls on the left side of the screen in portrait mode (even if I was in landscape mode) and sends me back to resume/restart screen.

I did only that test for now, I will do the others on this and my old optimus one. My phone is running 4.0.4, CM9 (freexperia)

why comparing a dreamcast emu to a psp emu, they're different consoles so there's emulation difficulty differences and remember the dreamcast will be harder to emulate (and developers aren't releasing this until it's good enough else people will start complaining)

General Discussion / Re: Make m64+AE suggest the best settings

benchmarking can't tell  device specific settings. The idea to make a list is in my opinion better, but benchmarking could be a good idea that can go with this in case there aren't specific game settings.

Great Paul! Can't wait for this. Will it work on mobile data too?

well I thought there's something that automatically makes the database taking all the info on the "hypotetical contribution site" and makes the file build, sorta like what orphis's buildbot does with programs. We could make it update every number of time and the user could just choose when to download the last version because auto update isn't liked from everyone

well the fact about implementing it in the app is that you're not forced to go on internet. Anyways by implementing it I mean thr code that will make this work, and we could easily update the settings database file, so no app update required and you can update on any version with the engine implemented. I don't know if you understand. I think I will do a graphic to plan everything

I got an idea that will help the generic user and lower the THE EMU IS SLOW HURR DURR 1 star ratings: making a list of speed/performance etc settings for each rom that we can see by pressing a button in the same menu of restart/continue/cheats. We would need a team that tests the rom on the devices they own, then put the settings they used on a site where it then will be moderated and if good, included with an update. We could give device specific settings too, so the list's code would literally be:
Code: [Select]
If game is listed in setttings (
if game is in device specific list (show it)
else (show generic settings for it))
else (show that there currently are no suggested settings)

We could make the file get updated on request with any m64 version too by using something similiar to buildbot, except for a text file.
How' the idea?

I assume you probably heard of this already, but a dolphin for android is in market. I can't test it since it requires a high end device, Android 4.0 and a OpenGL ES 3.0. (For example, an S4 type specs). So if you ever want to give that a go, check it out. It's at 0.2 right now but it'll definitely get better. (I know this is off subject, but just wanted to let ya know). Also, I see where the confusion was at now, "Evolution" does make it sound like I was making a video of the emulator progressing. I thought the "1.0" threw you off alone because that confused me, I assumed the emu was below that. Hope you enjoy your emulation experience on your S4. Though Dolphin isn't no NullDCe, it's something worth looking into.
You can still use dolphin, but it will be extremely slow because of the opengl version. I just hope they try to put support to 2.0 since little games could run on our devices too.
Also can't wait to play SA2 on my phone! The more emus, the merrier

Paul's Projects / Re: Side-scroller game for OUYA

paul, about the random event thing, what about making this only for semibosses, bosses and big enemies? The capture method being random would also make people get angry easily, so what about something like a quick puzzle or a combo to do to cap (like touching somewhere and swype in the directions the game says like a rhythm game or a combo for android, and moving analogs/pressing buttons and touch surface on ouya)? For small enemies instead you could make them take 2 seconds of watching to control (object falls in the way and you have to redo the thing since it's not anymore "hypnotized before capturing the soul". Also if you can attack with the controlled enemies, what about attacking others and "stunning" them to get more chance to control them (or easier combo)

Hey Paul, what about making some levels with 3d backgrounds and rotating levels (something like what klonoa does), It doesn't necessarily take that much of processor, it could be simple textures etc. The rotating 2.5D levels are just perfect for games with a story. Maybe something like carts going on the z axis to other sections of the levels. These scenes could be used in zones like this
