Paul, you're an awesome programmer, you ported one of the best n64 emulators in the world it and after it you will port a dreamcast eemulator, I want to learn programming in some way, with what should I start learning? (I'm a Mac) (I can also model)
wow just some days and your GUI will be done, awesome!

Hey paul, can you give us a "precise" percentage of what's done in the gui and what you will add after you complete the basic gui? Also: you said we can use our own skins for buttons etc, will we have in the menu button a way to move the buttons quickly without having to go  in the main menu?

Can't wait for the GUI, what settings are you planning to add to the first release of the GUI?

I dont think you bhave to worry that much about overclocking, my phone is 800mhz and i have it overclocked at 1400 and no overheating or anything.

yes but then they made the optimus hub aka  an upgraded optimus one with a better quality processor and it's 800mhz, in fact the hub is O1's successor, when the smartphone gets old i might overclock it to 700mhz, people say it's the best option.
also your smartphone's an htc, htcs always have awesome hardware so even if you overclock to 2mhz it could still work

wow i just found out my optimus one is 800mhz but LG blocked it at 600mhz because of heating problems, when i want i could freely overclock my smartphone to 700mhz without caring if the device would break :D

Its not really an issue with the emulator recognising scancodes its more of an issue of getting the n64 controller to be useable with an android phone, even with the usb converter you still need to correct drivers for the device to actually pick it up and make it useable.

EDIT: I know its not as good as using a real n64 controller but there are ways to use wiimotes and PS3 controller with android so I could tell you how to use them if you wanted.
nah already know how to use wiimotes, someone should actually do the classic controller/n64 controller with a micro usb ending, even a different controller, no one did this so far

hmm, there's the n64 controller in the bind file, how can i connectbmy N64 controllers to my smartphone...
If your device is rooted, I believe you can compile the missing linux USB toolchains and drivers, and buy a N64 to USB converter and USB to micro-USB converter.  It would be a huge project, but theoretically possible.
my optimus one isn't rooted, can't this work with the sdl scancode? i want a n64 to micro usb cable, NOW

Sorry, but I can see only a white square. That's the same when I tried to embed a video.
Have you post from an Android device or a PC ?
On some forums, this happened, if you insert a YT link from a mobile browser. Don't know why ?

when you copy a link from mobile browser, it's in mobile mode (m.linkhere.com) so you have to use the share button and get the links, by the way i copy pasted the link from the browser, if it works it's because it's the one in share button

some gameplay on my Lg Optimus One with default Android 2.3, airplane mode and task killer (not autokill mode)
sorry for worst cam ever but it's old.
also: is there a way to get audio with lower quality? it could be a nice thing to have low quality audio to hear the sound with more fps in low end devices.

P.s: if i bind a button to the vol-up or Vol-down buttons, will they also work as volume buttons? i literally need the z button somewhere.

EDIT: to get working vids on the forum, copy all the text after the "v=" and paste it in

by the way i can't seem to set hardware buttons becuse the code doesn't show, what happened?

you need the SDL scancode finder from the first post. just run it to find out the keycodes.

Thanks, this will speed up my SM64

I just found out why the sound gets these "spikes": this happens when the emulator lags, this could be fixed eith a plugin similiar as pcsx2's sound plugins (there's one letting you get normal speed audio even if the game lags, but it could crash games)
P.s:because i own a n64  and i own 3 of the most selled games (sm64, mario kart 64 and 007 goldeneye)+ other famous games i could test, i could compare the ones on the console and the ones on the android to check bugs :D

all paul said
That's awesome, i never saw an emulator with all that support!
by the way i can't seem to set hardware buttons becuse the code doesn't show, what happened? it was working in older builds (in fact i found this emulator yesterday from the XDA developers forum, and i see all the changes from that version to this) and in order to play mario 64 better, i need to bind the a button and z button, i'm currently testing all mario 64 (completing all the game) to check if there are any bugs, i really want to support this emulator in any way, but i can help just with ideas or doing buttons with vectorial programs, i think this will be the best android n64 emulator ever :D

The gamepad layouts are completely customizable, just take a look in the skins/gamepads folder.  I can help you figure out the syntax if you have trouble.  At some point I'll document it a little better, but you should be able to figure it out by studying the existing layouts.  I will be changing the syntax for the analog stick (using the code I came up with for the Xperia Play touchpads, which works a whole lot better).  Gamepad layouts are one of the areas I expect to see a lot of contributions from folks once this project starts getting a lot more attention during the Beta Testing phase (coming soon, after I finish the GUI hopefully in the next week or so).

so that means you will include a settings zone letting you customize the controls's size, position and maybe skin when you finish the GUI?if you do, you should add a way to save custom positions etc... for a game, setting automatically the buttons.
also i'm encountering a bug: the analog stick's indicator doesn't move  ( i can move my character but the analog doesn't)
Is there a way to use the analog style control instead of the one with no analog?
is there a way to see fps? i'm trying to find out how to improve performance
if you can, can you tell me step by step how to put the analog in the top left part of the screen? i have a semi multitouch phone so sometimes it glitches with analog in the down left and a button doesn't work or it presses random buttons.
this emulator is a pre alpha, IT'S GOING TOO FINE, NOT EVEN SNES EMULATORS GO THAT FAST! (in fact snes emulators lag a lot here)
keep up the good work!!

do you think mupen64plus ae will run at full speed some time at 600MHz armv6?

it goes almost perfectly with me (super mario 64), i suggest you to go in airplane mode, a lot things go 10 times better with it, you just have to wait paul to improve the code, this emulator is too fast to be an alpha, that means it will run perfectly in 600MHz Smartphones (i have an Lg Optimus One)

-------------------------
Buttons Idea For Paul: The Z Button Would Fit Better In The Down Center, Letting Us Use It When We Need It (It's really  hard to use it in sm64) and letting you put the r button in it
Also a moving analog stick when the emulator reaches a final version would be a better thing to add, it would let us see where precisely the analog aims

P.s:the A and B buttons could be bigger, they don't always respond in HVGA screens
