General Discussion / Re: Beta Testing Has Begun!

If you can't see the contents of the external drive with another app (e.g. ES File Explorer) you won't be able to see them in mupen either.  If you can see the contents in another app, but not mupen, then that would be an issue for this forum.

I don't understand.  I have lollipop devices and I've never had any problems writing to {emulated sdcard}/mupen64plus-ae.  "External storage" is an Android misnomer since it doesn't necessarily mean a physical SD card.

Really glad to see all your new contributions to the project.  ;D  This looks like a good list.  Unfortunately I don't have any time whatsoever to contribute to to project right now, but at least I can throw in my two cents.

[ ] Automatic importation of 2.5 settings

IMO the most critical task before publishing.  Without it there will be thousands of seriously angry users (for good reason).

[ ] Add "default" profile selection in game preferences for all profile types

By this, do you mean adding an option called "Default" in the game prefs, that would always stay up to date with whatever you've selected as the default from the profile management screen?  That would be a nice feature.

A few other things to review closely before publishing:
 - High-res texture unpacking (not sure if it works properly or makes sense)
 - Multi-player mapping, particularly in big-screen mode

@retroben - I might be wrong here, but I'm not entirely sure the mupen64plus core supports real-time cheat loading.  AFAIK it only occurs when the core is first started (i.e. when game first launches).  I may be wrong though... I've never understood the cheat stuff that well.

Hmm, I've never tested PS2 controllers.  But if you say it's working with the rest of the Android OS, then we should be able to support it in game as well.

Can you try installing the latest alpha release of the app?  A lot has changed since the version that is on the app store.  Please go to this thread and install the latest APK from the first post.  Don't worry, you can install both the published version and the alpha version side-by-side on the same device.

If you still can't get the controller to work on the latest alpha, then go do the following
 - keep the controller plugged in
 - go to the main nav drawer in the alpha
 - tap About -> Hardware info
 - post back the information that is displayed (use the share button to cut/paste).

In the alpha, you can also test the controller using Help -> Controller diagnostics from the main nav drawer.

Support / Re: How do I make a Nintendo 64 controller work on Ouya
« on: July 11, 2015, 05:54:40 PM »
This is actually one of the few controller setups I *don't* own, so unfortunately I can't give you definitive answers.  Hopefully another user can chime in here.  I would also search this forum for the term "Mayflash".

Regarding controller paks, you actually swap them virtually in the app itself, not in the physical controller.  From the in-game menu, go to Controller Paks and switch the emulated pak from there.  If you use a controller with rumble support (e.g. logitech F710 or wired xbox 360 controller) rumble should work if you select Rumble Pak from in-game.

General Discussion / Re: Adding auto Big Screen mode to Android TV

Yes, this all sounds fine.  That is how we normally deal with higher-API methods.  Please open a pull request on GitHub with your changes, and I'll give it a quick review and merge it.

For future reference, you can skip the step of posting on this forum, and just open the pull request directly.  It's actually easier to review that way, saves you some typing, and the turnaround is faster.

Thanks much!  :D

Sorry, I've been traveling and missed this in the inbox.  What make/model of controller?  Which version of the app?

Just submit a pull request on github.  Sorry I'm on vacation and away from my computer right now.

Click on Alpha 21.  That's the apk. No need to build.

Thanks Gilles for the CBFD fix, and thanks retroben for finding it right away :)

I updated the OP to Alpha 21.  Identical to Alpha 20 but fixes CBFD.

Yes, there's a solution but it's not obvious.  Making things automatic is in the plan, especially given the number of "leanback" devices are now on the market.

Since you said you sideloaded, I assume you are using Alpha 20, correct?

If so, then go to the global settings, scroll down to the bottom and change Accessibility to "Big-screen mode".

If you post back a bit of information, we can update the app so that this is automatic in the future for anyone with this device.  From the main navigation drawer of the app, select About -> Hardware info.  Then press the "Share" button in the popup window to copy the text, and post it back on this thread.

Try Alpha 20, just released today.  It allows you to customize the touchscreen controls very easily.  It also has the recent ROMS section that you asked for in an earlier thread.

Alpha 20 released.  It's a huge update from Alpha 19.  See the first post of this thread for the link and release notes.
