« on: August 23, 2017, 10:33:27 AM »
*Please note that this guide is intended for helping users to set up the Mupen64plus FZ edition, as it's the most updated version of the emulator. You can download MUPEN64PLUS FZ edition free from the Google Playstore.

1. Introduction.

Mupen64plus FZ is a highly customisable emulator that lets you play  N64 games on Android devices.

The emulator DOES NOT come with any games included. It does however read and play the N64 games - (ROMS) that you have installed on your android device's storage.

-It is forbidden to ask how to obtain n64 roms here, a google search may help.

2. Set-up Mupen64plus FZ

Open the Mupen64plus FZ app, it will load resources then go to the Main Menu.

The Main Menu is black with 3 Navigation keys at the top, from left to right these are:

Next you will need to set the directory path to the folder containing your N64 Roms.
(Where you have your N64 Roms saved in your android's storage)

3. Set Directory Path.

-This is where you set the folder that you store your Roms, for the emulator to read.

From the Main Menu, select the RELOAD icon. (The top right circular arrow)
You will see:

^Parent folder

Search zip files
Download cover art
Clear gallery before adding
Scan subdirectories

On the part of the screen that has:

^Parent folder

-scroll down, to the "Downloads" folder, and select it.

You should see your n64 Rom inside this folder.
(You may have to scroll down to find it.)

Hit the "OK" button at the bottom right of the screen to set your Downloads folder as the directory, the emulator will scan the folder and find your game.

Now your game will appear in the main menu of Mupen64plus FZ, click on it to play the game with default settings.

*Note, you can create and rename new folders in your android's file manager to place your Roms, instead of the 'Downloads' folder.
Just set the directory again to the your new folder.

4. Emulator Options.

From the emulator's Main Menu, press the top left Options button (the 3 bars icon) to open up all the default settings for the emulator.

The Options are arranged in this order:

-Tip Developer

Each of the above Options are explained below:

This will return you back to the Main Menu, where you can view your N64 Rom Library.

-Settings: This is where you adjust the default settings of the emulator.

-Profiles: Here is where you can select between different emulation, touchscreen, or controller profiles.

-Tools: Handy tools to assist you and troubleshoot problems.

6. Profiles.

Select, adjust or create your own custom profiles, save your tweaks or adjustments to one place, set custom controllers to use and remap buttons to your preference.

Profiles list:

-Emulation Profiles
-Touchscreen Profiles
-Controller Profiles

-Emulation Profiles:

-Touchscreen Profiles:
Adjust the size, style, layout and spacing of touchscreen controls.

-Controller Profiles:
Set custom controllers,  change button mapping and adjust deadzones when using a controller.

7. Other Info.

Using the default touchscreen controls are fine, but you can also use an external controller to play instead.
Mupen64plus-FZ is compatable with most USB controllers, via an OTG cable. If your android device can be operated by a controller, it should also work with Mupen64plusFZ. There are also plenty of bluetooth controllers available.

*Default Emulator Settings -VS- Individual Game Settings:

Please remember that the settings you adjust in the emulator's options menu are set as the default setup across your whole emulator..

To adjust profiles or save settings for individual games in your Library, select the game from the Main Menu.
Now, instead of selecting Start or Resume, select Settings.

This is where you adjust the options for THAT GAME ONLY.
For example, you can save a controller setup, emulation profile, screen resolution etc.. to be used for that one game.

*Graphical Errors:

Please try the different emulator profiles and settings to improve the  quality on your device.
Due to the diffent capabilities of android devices, and the individual way that each game works, you may get better results from different profiles, and graphical settings.

I have linked this guide in Mupen64Plus FZ playstore listing. Thanks!

I may also consider linking it within the app itself.

How can I link my downloads folder or any folder to Mupen? My Parent folder has a couple of folders linked, but none that I need.

You can rename or create a new folder to store your ROMS in from within your android device's file manager, or other apps such as EZ File Explorer. Just follow Step 3 as above to set that folder (which has your ROMS inside) as the Directory Path.

Note* The directory file name doesn't need to be the "Downloads" folder, you can set it as whatever folder you move your ROMS into.

Is there any way config the N64 Mouse onto the app?? Cause I got N64DD games working on there and I can't continue without mouse support since I need it for the Mario Studio Apps inc. Sim City 64. If there is any way I can Copy/Paste the data, I would love ro know. Thanks mate! 😊
