Latest Playstore version GlideN64 seems slower

I'm using Mupen64Plus FZ playstore version on a Powkiddy X15 with Android 7. It's a pretty low end device, but on the whole GlideN64Fast has been ok. The last update seemed to significantly slow it down though, with severe audio stuttering. Fortunately there are other emulation profiles, but I thought GlideN64 was the most up to date and the best profile to use, whereas profiles like rice are old and glitchy?

Yeah, GLideN64 did get slower. I have to look into why. Probably some accuracy improvements did it. It seems specifically related to 2d scenes.
