Import plugin not possible
« on: January 22, 2012, 03:45:29 AM »
In v 1.4 it's not possible to use the import plugin option, because browsing to subfolders are broken.
Would be fine, if you can reimplement this feature back in the next version. Because the new version of Rice plugin breaks some graphics.
For example, the screen where you select the game character is now empty. Only the background is visible.

Ok, I have to specify my statement.  :)
I can only see /data, no deeper folders and no .so file extensions, even in other folders

That's because the folder "/data/data" is not readable without root privileges.  If your device is rooted, you should be able to change its permissions to something like 775 to gain read access to it (you'd have to do the same for any sub-directory you wanted to be able to nagivate into as well).  The way the "import" function is going to work is it will instead allow you to import .so files from somewhere on the sdcard (wherever the user downloaded them to), and it will stick them into a list.  If one of those .so files is chosen when the emulator starts, it will search for a folder with read/write/execute access (usually /tmp) and stick the .so there temporarily, allowing it to be executed.  This will allow users to import and use 3rd-party plug-ins without having their device rooted.

Exactly. Since I am rooted, my phone will recognize such folders

I was wondering about that, because in v 1.3 it was possible to select a .so and prowse to the plugin folder.
All my devices are rooted.

Yes, the app doesn't request root access though, so you'd have to set the permissions manually.  The reason you could browse the plug-ins in previous versions is because I started the file chooser in /data/data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus/libs which is already past /data/data.  You can't get further than /data because /data/data does not have global read permission.

Thank you for explanation.
But even if i set permissions for all folders, I can browse to /lib but can't see any files in /lib.  :-\
Permissins for the new .so files where the same like the others. I use Root-Explorer for that and compared it with the other settings.
I can't even see these files in /sdcard/extracted_folder.

Set permission to 775 sounds for an Windows guy like Klingon.  ;D

Oh, you're right.  I have it looking for .zip files instead of .so files.  I'll fix this.
