mario 64 on droid razr
« on: February 09, 2012, 10:19:29 AM »
When using HDMI hook up on the Droid razr to mirror on display Mario 64 glitches really bad but without it hooked up to the TV it runs perfectly fine messing around last night I found a topic on disabling the audio plug in to help smooth things out doing that fixed the glitches but now ithere's no sound just out of curiosity I turned the audio plug in back on I plugged my headphones into the audio Jack on the phone itself while still hooked up to the HDMI cable started the program up loaded Mario 64 everything worked perfectly while I was still In the game I unplugged the headphones and the game continued to run smooth with sound through the TV and everything so I restarted the program and loaded everything again without the headphones plugged in and the glitches were back so I redid everything I said before to make sure it wasn't luck that one time but it works great every time hope this helps

That's weird.  Any other programs having this problem? (in particular other apps with 3D graphics - if you have N64oid try it)  Also, see if the problem affects both video plug-ins.

At first glance, it looks like there is something conflicting between the HDMI and audio circuitry (could be either software or hardware related, hard to say).  If the problem is specific to Mupen64Plus AE, then the most likely culprit would be incorrect pointers writing to the wrong memory addresses (there's some indication this could be happening, for example the Banjo Tooie random crashes that happen more often the less memory is free).

I'm going to download n64oid and give it a shot I haven't any issues with any other program as far as having it connected through HDMI Mario 64 was the only game I've had an issue with glitching badly I will post a reply on n64oid when I get home from work to try it thanks for the advice

Not "N64 4 Droid" (that's just a rip-off of Mupen64Plus AE v1.4).  You want N64oid (pulled from the market, because Yongzh violated the GPL, but available on the SlideMe market-- google "n64oid slideme").

Ok, thanks for checking.  It means there is a problem in my code somewhere.

Do you have the same problem with both video plug-ins, or just gles2n64?

Yea both video plug ins do the same only when I disable the audio plug in as you said in one of your threads does the glitches go away but then there's no sound....  also something else I've noticed is where I download the roms from only lists n64oid is it possible that the roms I'm getting from that site is specifically for that program or should it work with yours as well

They should work for any N64 emulator.  This could be related to the Alpha bug that Razer and a couple other phones are having.  Let me fix that bug first and see if it solves this problem too.
