Unfortunately, no.  I've been doing some searching, and it seems that many apps find themselves in "Suspended" mode for a very long time, due to Google never getting around to reviewing them (it doesn't help that they never respond to support emails either or give you any kind of time-line or position in the queue).  I'm thinking the best solution is to just re-list the app under a new package name (label it something like "donate" version).  I'll merge the Xperia Play code into a single app, and make it an option that can be turned on in the settings.  When the original three branches are un-suspended, Ill make the main one the free version (and just kill the other two).  That way anyone who bought the app originally won't have to buy it again (not that they have to since it is free here anyway, but still..), and they'll start getting auto-updates again once Google gets around to unsuspending the app.  The only drawback to this solution, is folks who bought only the Xperia Play branch would have to remove it and install the new donate or free branch to get auto-updates.

Hay Paul,
I'm one of your big fans and have purchased your Xperia Play version and may i say I've quite enjoyed it! I was reading though the posts and see that your fighting some wackjob trying to take your credit. Is it possible to purchase the fake product, rate it, and then refund? if so then I'll toss my 5 cents in!

Thanks for your time.

I think you can rate and then refund an app if you want to, although I haven't actually tried it myself (I typically like to continuously update my rating comments, which requires the app to stay installed).  If you'd rather not take the chance, you can always "flag" an app without buying it as well.

To be honest, I'm not really concerned that Brad is trying to take credit for anything.  My problem is with his using heavy-handed tactics to eliminate his competition and corner the market.

Since I'm back on the subject, I'd like to point out a couple things that make Brad Geng a hypocrite (I know, everyone is tired of hearing me rant..)

1) When he originally posted the ad-supported branch "N64 Player" on the market, he wrote in the description "I publish this app so all users can use the free software. It's the gist of OPEN SOURCE software".  First of all, the app WASN'T free at all.  Statistics show that ad-supported apps make more money over time than paid apps, because far more people install them and the income keeps coming in even if everyone stops installing them completely (Brad is STILL making money from N64 Player as we speak, despite the app being pulled).  Secondly, if he were truly out to support the true concept of open source, why does his latest branch "N64droid" not include the full source code and why is it listed for $5?.  Obviously, an ad-supported app made more economic sense when he had competition on the market, and now that he has the market virtually to himself he can charge whatever he wants.  This has nothing to do with trying to benefit humanity.. only to benefit Brad.

2) In his emails, he accuses me of trying to corner the market by 1-staring every branch that appears on the market.  And yet he is the one who filed a DMCA take-down notice against my apps and bobthebanana's, eliminating nearly all competition, and then he proceeded to list a paid-for branch to try and corner the market.  Besides that, his claim that I'm trying to corner the market isn't true either.  He fails to recognize that every 1-star rating I've given has been accompanied by a comment in which I describe what is wrong with the app (generally ignoring the GPL, misleading people in the description, having annoying ads, having bloated permissions, etc.), and a promise that I will rate higher when these things are improved.  And I follow up on that promise.  He fails to recognize that my rating of N64 Pro Emulator was increased to 2-star when bobthebanana started making additions to the code, and my rating of N64 Player itself was 3-star (and had been for a couple weeks before he filed the DMCA take-down notice).  He also fails to recognize that I haven't even left a comment at all for the branch "N64 4 Droid", because the publisher is abiding by the license and not trying to mislead anyone.

3) He says, "if you don't harm others, nobody will harm you", accusing me of being malicious by getting "silly" people to 1-star all branches of my app.  I'd like to point out here, that the only app this happened to was his "N64 Player", and it was AFTER he had my apps taken down.  300+ people didn't 1-star his app because I instigated them.. they did because he pulled a dick-move and everyone recognized it.  Case-in-point, I asked folks if they would 1-star "N64droid" earlier this week, and up to now it currently only has three 1-star ratings.  I have no power to stir up the masses.. Brad did that himself.

I don't get it... devs can take comments down? Isn't that a bit abusive?

I assume the thought was that folks could flag spammy comments as spam to have them removed.  Google probably has some rule like if 3 or more people mark something as spam, then it gets removed (it would be silly if only one person could knock out any comments they didn't like).  But, of course, if you had 3 accounts (or a couple friends), you could still knock out any comments you don't like.  So the system wasn't well thought out either way.  That's the problem with automating everything.. computers don't have common sense.

If anyone wanted further proof that scottmcfurry = Ash Apps = Shikitou = Brad Geng, See the latest app posted by Ash Apps.  Besides the icon, which I pointed out earlier is the same style as his other emulator rip-offs on SlideMe, notice the app's unique package name "com.scottmcfurry.n64pro".  Also, if you hadn't noticed it before, check scottmcfurry's other app.  Looks like Brad is hoping some dumb sucker doesn't realize it's the exact same app, and buys it twice hoping for better/ different compatibility.

BTW, am I the only one wondering why it says "The price is $4.99" in the description?   I wonder how long it will take for Google to take this one down...  Brad better be careful, since he already has one strike against his "Ash Apps" account :P

Brad's N64 emulators are down from the Market (he still has his developer accounts though).  Interestingly, so is Techworkzx's emulator.  This could indicate that someone went rogue and decided to file bogus DMCA claims against them, or that Google did a clean sweep.

It is interesting to note that "N64 Arcade", which is a rip-off of N64oid instead of Mupen64Plus AE, is still up, so whatever happened it seems to have been targeting just emulators based on Mupen64Plus AE.  This probably rules out Nintendo as being the culprit, because they wouldn't have spared one.

I suppose another possibility is that Brad owns all three developer accounts, and he is just giving up on the emulator (doubtful, because even his $6 one made over 1,000 sales).  Anyway, it will be interesting to see if Google bans the accounts, or if they stick around (or if maybe Brad is about to try some new strategy.. new developer accounts maybe).

If he starts new dev account, it will cost yet another 25$, and again, and again...
He probably did takedown Techworkzx's emulator because it used your source code, while there's nothing to do with N64oid rip-off, except that yongzh requests takedown.

True, but if he can make $6,000+ for each (or 500,000 - 1,000,000 installs of an ad-based app), then it is well worth the setup fees.  And in fact, having multiple accounts is a good hedge against the inevitable account bannings.  And if you don't leave an app up long enough to be flagged by Google, you avoid negative points against your accounts so you can keep them longer and post future iterations of the same app for the same suckers to buy multiple times.

That said, I'd like to think his apps got taken down :D. Only he and Google knows for sure
 though.
