"Mupen64Plus is running" message, but it doesnt work
« on: July 03, 2012, 02:41:30 AM »
Hi everyone:

Yesterday Ive tried N64 Emulator in my HTC One S with a Super Mario 64 ROM. It worked very well, but few minutes later when I downloaded several ROMS more, the app doesnt work. I select a ROM - including the Super Mario 64 ROM - and the app begins, exit to home screen and shows on the top the message "Mupen64Plus is running", letting the icon there. I tried a few things: delete the app and reinstall, kill all the tasks, restore app data, reset default settings, reset the phone...

Any other idea? Thanks in advance!

Could you post the logcat?  It might indicate what is causing the crash.  If you aren't familiar with accessing the logs, I posted instructions in this thread.

Sounds like you went through the right process.  Generally uninstalling the app, unplugging your phone from the computer, shutting down the phone, rebooting, and then reinstalling the app will fix about any problem (kind of overkill, but the best way to make sure).  One possibility is that your phone's storage is about full.  This would affect you especially if your ROMs are in .zip format, if there was no room to decompress them at run-time.  Just a thought, though, not really sure what is going on.

Just dropping in to confirm the same issue - except I am on a rooted HTC One X from AT&T. I downloaded 2 games - Rayman 2 and Ocarina of Time - and upon trying to launch either one I got the same error described by the OP.

I've searched online and it seems like this application on the One X is practically undocumented, although N64oid seems to work.

Edit: Super Mario 64 works!

You might try getting your OOT ROM from another source to see if there is a problem with the ROM itself.  I haven't played with Rayman 2, but I kind of recall that is one of the games that doesn't work.
