Hi  Epic_bubble and Paul,

Would it be possible if you could make me a copy of the latest version with Xperia Touch Pad Support?

I have not long since got my Xperia Play and would like to test how is works with the emulator.

Thank you for your time

Hey Im not why you mentioned me since only paul is the one creating the emulator but for the meantime you can use this build: http://www.paulscode.com/source/Mupen64Plus-AE/27OCT2011/Mupen64Plus-Xperia-Play-debug.apk

It has touchpad support but no GUI. Hope this helps. :)

@ Paul
Have you seen yongzh updated source from 10/11. November ?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/n64oid/files/

But don't expect anything usefull.  ::)

The main change in this source-code update is that Yongzh removed his gles2n64 source.  This is really sad, because he fixed a lot of problems, and now all that work is basically lost to the open-source community.

Besides that, there have been three changes:

1) Speed Factor.  This seems to be similar to "Fast Forward", except it allows you to specify an arbitrary percentage (so could also be used to "Slow Down" as well).  However, all the useful stuff has been moved to the audio plug-in (to keep it closed-source), so there's nothing useful I can use here.

2) GameShark Button.  I'm not familiar with what this does, but I don't see a lot of new code related to it, so I'd guess most of the useful stuff for this is also in the closed-source sections (I'll look at this more closely at some point).

3) Cheats.  Processing seems to have been moved to its own separate thread.  Most if not all the code for this seems to be present, so this is probably something I can use.  I'll have to look at it a little more closely, though to see if anything important is missing.

The touchpad example linked to in the first post is nearly up-to-date, and fine for testing.  The only things missing are the Rice video plug-in (which is not complete), the in-game menu (which only gives you the ability to save/load state, and can alternatively be done with button mapping), and the hardware profiling logic (which is irrelevant for the Xperia Play version).  When I finish the GUI, I'll release an Xperia Play version.  If you need the Rice video plug-in and your device is rooted, just save the file libgles2rice.so from the non-Xperia Play build, and then after installing the Xperia Play version, stick it into /data/data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus/lib

One of the things I thought of to add to the core settings view is an option to "Set arguments".  This will provide an easy way to use special Mupen64Plus features without me having to create a special interface for every one of them (cheats for example).

Just to get this stright really quick:

The GUI will have a menu which will let you...
>Turn on and off volume control with volume buttons
>Turn Xperia play touch pad support on and off (I know you said it will no longer be supported, but if you put  Mupen64plus AE in the market, do this)
>Save and Load States
>Button Mapping
>Game Overlay Chooser
>Set Aurguments / Cheats
>Information

Everything there except that Xperia Play touch pad support will be a separate app (I'll list both on the market) and "Arguments/ Cheats" is just "Arguments" (can be used to enable cheats and anything else you can do with command-line arguments).  Also, I haven't added "Information", but that's a good one  :)

Hi Epic_Bubble,

Sorry for asking you. I asked because you have an Xperia Play and I thought you would understand more on how to add the support in to the emulator.

Thank you for the file.

It is much appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Arguments should be the same as the original mupen64plus right? Also do any of the open source graphic plugins have the ability to change the internal resolutions of the games? For now it looks like the emulator renders the game at your devices native screen res, if the internal res could be changed to force it lower then maybe older phones would get a bit of a speed up.

I have an old crappy netbook lying about and by lowering the internal resolution on project64 I have had massive speed gains (although a loss of picture quality).

For rooted devices you can also use Chainfire 3D it alows you tu use
16bit textures, i dont notice much on my phone since the emulator runs good on my phone. But i think it will work great on the slower devices.

(Make sure your device is supported for this!)
