I don't think there is really such a thing as a perfect N64 emulator, at least not until computers about 3 or 4 times faster than they are now so they can handle emulating the hardware at the lowest level (HLE will probably never be perfect).  That being said, I'd bet in a couple years of optimizations and bug-fixes, this project (and its branches) should be running on-par with any other N64 emulators out there.

One thing i would like is the "T1 or T0 framebuffer emulation" or whatever it is so that the pause menu of zelda64 will actually show link instead of the random textures =/

It will be distributed the same way as usual, however those of you who have a previous version installed will have to delete the app-data/paulscode.android.mupen64plus folder from your sdcard so the new app-data will be downloaded.  One of the things I need to add to the GUI is a button that refreshes the app-data for you (I keep remembering all these little things - that's why I'm so bad at predicting how long things take).

That's on my to-do list.  I'm going to try and get ahold of Jabo at some point to see if he will release the relevant pieces of his source code, or at least give me a few pointers.  Hopefully he won't see me as competition since his plug-in is for DirectX (although realistically as soon as this goes open-source I'd be surprised if every N64 emulator out there didn't immediately implement it as well)

Ive added a bit more to my app that deletes the app-data, soon it will automatically install the mupen64plus-ae apk via adb. I only wish I had made this back in the heavy alpha testing phase as it would have made installing the test builds alot faster. :P

as far as contacting jabo for to release his source i hope it goes well :) his is the best plugin as far as emulating the original n64 graphics. Although he's behind in the retexture field. i also heard someone mention zodttd :) i saw those tweets too and i think its very likely he will release his source code since he's been given a lot of crap about it.. Good work to everyone who has helped program this thing, i for one am enjoying the fruits of your labor ;)

Paul,

Can you please tell a date when it supports gles1
I'm a little nervous because i really like to play n64
I have the real console too and its cool and the only 3d console
one that is emulated on mobile with a good speed
and i wanna play it in the train, plane , at school , etc.
But my mobile doesn't have gles2
So pppllleeeaaassseee fix this  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks a lot

Oh and another strange thing if i push back, menu, search or home button
A little box comes at my screen with the text : "scancode ..." (... is a number because when i press different buttons there pops out different numbers)

Well, I am very bad at estimating how long things take, but if I develop it myself, don't expect it to be usable earlier than 4-6 months from now, and probably a year or more before it runs at a fast enough speed for games to be really playable on low-end devices.  This component will not be trivial (GLES1, despite the similar name, is completely different than either GLES2 or vanilla OpenGL), and I'm not the best GL developer out there to begin with (it will definitely be a learning experience).  Like I said, it is high on my priority list, but it isn't something that I'll be able to complete as quickly as some other things, and obviously not something I will be able to dedicate 100% of my time to (or nothing else will get done).

You could always ask Yongzh to write one for N64oid, since he has great experience writing a brand-new video plug-in from scratch, and is very concerned about supporting folks with older devices and the open-source community  :P
