I'm quite impressed with the project, and I'll still look forward to watching it grow. I'm hoping the best for Mupen64+ AE; and that maybe another Dev can be found. I'm sure you'll find somebody willing to help once it goes to the market / Slide. After adjusting some options I was able to max out at about 20 FPS, but I think maybe I'll try messing around a little bit more. Soon my phone will have Overclock, so maybe that will help too; just a shame that a decent phone like the Admire has such low RAM.

On my Xperia X10 mini pro Super Mario 64 is working with 5 to 15 fps in game (frame skip 2). I would be happy if in future N64 games works in 25-30 fps, but in this early version this is already huge success.

Do you mean it is slower compared to N64oid, or compared to the version prior to adding the GUI (or both)?

Maybe it's just my misleading imagination.  :-\

And many things have changed in the last months.

- N64oid has gotten many impovements. better speed, more accurate audio and the new graphic plugin.
- you add rice plugin
-  rice performes bad on tegra, but very good on exynos
- the galaxy s2 has many problems with gles2n64, but on rice some games don't start.
- the actual version of rice fixed many things for my SGS2 ( now background and menue textes on bug's life, no flickering in bluesbrothers), but breaks other things ( no gras in conker. before it was only flickering)

at this stage, it's nearly impossible to compare the same settings on different devices.  :(

That's true, any of a number of things can make comparisons difficult.  I think the best thing moving forward will be to have the philosophy "what can be done to improve performance?", and see where that leads.  There are currently a LOT of answers to that question ;D  I tend to focus on the question "what features can I add", which may not be the best thing to be spending time on, when there are more immediate performance and compatibility issues to be solved.  Obviously, both can be done at the same time, but perhaps performance should get the majority of the time and effort for a while.

I tested the latest release on my Galaxy Ace and also gave a speed of less than 10 fps, even turning off the sound, which in my opinion made no difference in speed.

The frameskip, if I put more than 2, the game gets a white screen and not come out.

But the emulator is getting very good,  for me opening the Mario 64, is already great.

Congratulations for the great work!

Okay, just tried out the new test build.  Overall it looks good. I'm running a G2 with CM7 (one of the more recent nightlies), and I'm oc'd on-demand to 1.5GHz.  I was running Mario at a steady 30fps. The one issue I did notice had to do with mapping hardware keys.  I like to map Z to my volume up button (it's right under my left ring ringer).  That works, but the problem is, it still functions as the volume up button, so every time I long jump, the volume goes up.

I'll test later at stock speeds and let you know how it performs.

Be sure to check the option "disable volume buttons" in the input settings menu.  Let me know if that doesn't work.

Requesting Youtube video-showcase submissions.  I will choose one to be placed in the item description when I post it on the Android market.  I want a separate video for the Xperia Play version (which I will be posting soon), so anyone without an Xperia Play is encouraged to submit a video for consideration.  Sadly, I don't have a good video camera, so I can't really do one myself.  Thanks in advance!

I finished building the Xperia Play version.  As usual, it took a little "blind development" since I don't actually own an Xperia Play  :'(  Quite a few things changed since the last Xperia Play test I put together, so I fully expect it to require some debugging to get it working properly:

Xperia Play, Final Alpha Test   (source code)

For new arrivals to the forum, this version is specifically for the Xperia Play, so if you have a different phone, this is not the version you want to install (see the first post in this thread for more information).

testing it now. i will post the results.
Edit: ok so it appears the analog stick works fine but the right touchpad mapped to the c-stick doesn't appear to work anymore.
Edit2: Also, i have a suggestion that would be nice, a way to un map keys other than mapping to something like search or volume

I wont be able to make any videos until monday unfortunately. Is there any specific things you would want in the video or do you just want me to do a review type thing?

Thanks, I'll look into this.

You can use the menu key to unmap buttons.

Anything you think will look good to show of the emulator.  Thanks!
