Deleted my home app
« on: January 08, 2013, 09:46:45 AM »
I had 2 different home apps on my moto M one was installed and one wasn't when I was cleaning the phone to make more room for games, I accidentally got rid of the only home app that was installed. Yes, I do know how stupid that was. I have sense pushed another launcher onto the phone with adb however though it shows installed under my apps list, it doesn't show as running under the list that shows running apps. Does anyone know a command to force the app to start and run, or any other solution to this problem? I have googled how to reset the phone with the stock firmware, as I never installed a custom recovery but every link I found for a stock firmware update to flash was bad. Thank you in advance

What happened to the default home app?  Can you access the Play store, or are you completely limited to sideloading via adb?

I am completely limited to sideload through adb/fastboot. I have the play store installed but I have no way to get to it unless theres a command that can start the market then allow me to install from the market.

If you know the activity name for the home app, you can call
adb shell
am start -n com.package.name/com.package.name.ActivityName

Otherwise you could launch a browser from adb:
adb shell
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.browser/.BrowserActivity

Navigate to the Play store and install and run a launcher:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher

And if you still can't get the launcher to run, try using:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.homesmack

Just get on a wireless network if you can.  My Xperia PLAY isn't activated and I just use it for gaming and surfing on the go.

To access the settings from adb try
adb shell
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings
2012 Nexus 7, rooted stock Lollipop
Samsung Galaxy Victory, rooted stock Jelly Bean
Xperia PLAY, stock Gingerbread
OUYA, retail version

I can access the settings. The phone boots completely it's just that when I hit the home button nothing happens because I have no launcher to call home. I am waiting for tax money before I can have a wireless network, I am currently tethered. This year I lost a business and it really hurt my wallet so some things had to be sacrificed.
