Using my phone as a Game controller for my pc?
« on: February 28, 2013, 07:10:02 PM »
As much as I enjoy mobile emulation, my tablet is out of commission at the moment (charger crapped out on me) and banged Droid incredible 2, is well less than incredible. And mupen is a bit heavy for it. So i've installed a 64 emulator on my computer, and I was so used to using BTcontroller (phone to tablet), I was wondering if something similiar exists but phone to pc.

I've found a few but a simple google search yields very little, and what I have found lacks any viable controller lay outs.

EDIT: I'm looking for something that uses WiFi or a usb connection, as my pc doesnt have bluetooth.

Yeah, that one is actually just a computer program that come preloaded with some of their own games, that use your phone as a controller. It can't be used out side of those games that do come with it.

How about gpad?  Seems more like a virtual keyboard, but says you can customize your own gPads.

Wouldn't allow full analog control though (like other IMEs, I suppose).

Ill check it out, but I had another thought. And maybe this would work with gpad.

If i found an app that could just send general input signals that wouold connect over wifi, or usb, could I then just connect a Wiimote via blue tooth to my phone and use an app that can read the inputs from the wii mote. I used to have one like it, I think it was called joystick center or something like that, can't seem to find it though.

This app actually does work, and has a what appears to be a layout geared toward n64. However, its very choppy, and freezes up a lot, it may just be my phone. Suprisingly it does have an analog stick that works, but it has an absurd range, at max range (full sprint) you're over other buttons on the screen, and it reads those inputs when your thumb slides over those other buttons. It's promising though, and I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Good find Tom, thanks.

The joystick sticks aswell. So I guess it emulates an n64 controller quite well!

That one works alright, it just doesn't have a proper layout for playing n64 >.<
